Looking for a packing list for an upcoming move? Hansen Bros. Moving & Storage has compiled some excellent resource guides to help – Packing 101 and Packing 102.
As Seattle’s premier moving and storage company for over 120 years, we’ve learned many invaluable packing tips, such as:
- The heavier the item, the smaller the carton should be.
- Mark all boxes, designating room and box number. Make a carton identification log to show the number of boxes packed per room, and the total number of cartons packed.
- Be sure that the bottoms of all cartons are secured and will hold the weight of the contents.
- Pack heavier items toward the bottom of the box and lighter items toward the top.
The one thing that was a little iffy - we were moving a large format original oil painting that I was told would be packed safely for shipping in a mirror kit. The crew decided not to protect it with the kit and instead just loaded it in the truck. The painting arrived okay, but I wish they had treated it with a bit more care. — Pam & Sandy L., 2/13/2019See What 3,105 Customers are Saying
